Most people see camping as a way to get rid of stress and get away from the stresses of the day. But, if your preparations are inadequate, issues may arise. Keep reading to find tips and advice for ensuring that your next camping adventure goes off without a hitch.

Let your loved ones help you pick a campsite. Discuss which state you wish to visit. The U.S. has dozens of great camping options. To aid in this decision, you may want to offer a few of those that you personally like the best and than let each family member vote.

If you’re going to be taking your children camping, attend a first-aid course. In an emergency, your first aid training could be the difference between life and death. You should also research the area you plan on camping in. You should be aware of the poisonous snakes, wild animals, etc., that inhabit the area.

Check the weather before leaving for your camping trip. There are dozens of websites that can tell you about local climates. If you have the correct information, you can pack properly.

The lint from the dryer actually is great to help start campfires. Collect your dryer lint about a month before you go camping. Place the lint you normally throw in the trash in a plastic bag to take with you. Your kindling will be easily accessible when you are leaving for your destination.

Always prepare an emergency kit when camping, whether you are going by yourself or with others. There are certain things you’ll need to include at certain locations (i.e. a snake bite kit.) However, there some basics you should always have with you. For example, if you are camping in an area that may have poison ivy, make sure you pack hydro-cortisone.

Oranges can be used for insect repellent. Once you finish your orange, save the peel. Rub it easily on all your exposed skin for a chemical-free bug repellent.

Try to ensure your camp is set up before night falls. If you driving an RV, you should locate a safe parking spot. When using a tent, choose a dry flat location. Doing this during daylight hours will save you hassle and frustration. You will be able to see due to the sunlight and you will have an easier time.

Bring along camping pillows to the campsite. Standard pillows can get hot and sticky in humid weather. Standard pillows will take in moisture and could mold or mildew. Camping pillows use a coating to lock moisture out to improve your comfort level.

Make sure that you bring all of your camping equipment with you before you head out on your trip. Forgetting something crucial like your sleeping bag or a fire starter is not something you want to happen. Check to make sure you have everything you need with a check list prior to going on your trip.

Kids really enjoy camping if they are kept busy with fun activities. If you’re out in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, boredom will set in. They have probably never fished or set up tents. Allow them to practice these activities prior to going camping if they’re not that experienced with the outdoors.

If your campsite is known for wildlife, be extremely careful with food. You will need to keep your food in airtight containers or securely wrapped, and store it away from your tent. Some foods should be avoided entirely. Doing this means you cut down on your possibilities of an animal attack.

Don’t forget the duct tape. Just as it has myriad uses around the house, you can use it for a variety of needs in the woods, too. It can be used to fix a hole in your air mattress. It can also be used on your tarp or tent. You can even use it to help prevent blisters on your feet. It even works as a bandage.

While the concept of camping involves getting away from it all, you still need to be prepared with some basic items. A sleeping bag is a must, and extra blankets should also be considered. This will allow you to stay warm, no matter how cold it gets, and it also serves as extra padding.

Use an orange peel mosquito repellant. So, if you forgot to pack your mosquito repellant, do not despair. Experts say to rub your exposed body parts with a inside layer of a ripe orange peel. The mosquitoes should stay away from you for hours.

Think carefully when you pack. Write down everything you will need, and cross them off as they are packed. This is especially important if you will be camping in a remote location without access to first-aid supplies or other items you might need in an emergency.

You can have a great time when camping, as previously advised. However, when the preparations are lacking, the trip can be disastrous. Use the tips you have been provided with in the above article to ensure your next camping trip goes off without a hitch. Most of all, have a great time!
