So many people love the beauty of the outdoors. To make the most of time spent camping, educate yourself on what you must know. If you spend some time reading the advice here, you can make your next camping trip a really enjoyable one.

Let everyone help choose the perfect campsite for your family. Talk about the state you wish to see. There are so many options around the U.S. that it can actually be difficult to pick one! If necessary, select a few locations yourself, then let the family decide among your choices.

Survival Kit

Make sure you have a survival kit with you during your entire camping trip. A survival kit should include items like a flare gun, matches that are waterproof, a knife and other items you think you may need. You need this if you become lost or stranded; the items in your kit may save your life. It is important that you carry your survival kit with you at all times.

Make sure that you get a tent that is big enough for you and whoever else is going to be inside the tent. This will ensure comfort while inside the tent.

TIP! Get a big enough tent to fit everyone and gear properly. A bigger tent means easier movement, which can be useful when you have to urinate at night.

Be sure that your tent will comfortably fit everyone that you will be sharing it with to have a good trip. Being stuffed into a tent can make it almost impossible to get any sleep, and you certainly do not want to be stepping on people if you have to get out during the night.

Attend a class in first aid; this is a really good idea if you are camping with children. Camping can be very remote, so it is best to be able to deal with emergencies on your own, until help can be reached. Also be sure to do all the research you can about the area. Be sure you are aware whether there are any snakes or spiders that are poisonous and what kind of critters are out there in the area.

Examine your medical insurance policy. If you go to another state, you may have to have another policy. This comes into effect, more so, when you are traveling out of the country. Be sure that you prepare yourself in case anything happens!

TIP! Check the terms of your health insurance before leaving. You may need additional coverage in case you have an accident in a different state.

If you are going camping with children, eat a “jungle breakfast”. Tie to the trees small boxes of cereal, fruit, and juice boxes. When the kids awake, you can tell them to “hunt” for breakfast. It’s a fun way to make camping a little more exciting for the children.

Keep a kerchief or bandanna close at hand. In emergencies, such cloth can turn into a towel, a potholder or a piece of luggage. Because there are so many versatile uses for them, bringing one or two on each camping trip is a good idea.

Consider having a “jungle breakfast” if you are on a camping trip with children. Tie fruit, juice boxes, and small boxes of cereal to trees. Once the kids are awake, they can go search for their food. This is a wonderful way to add fun to their camping enjoyment.

TIP! If you are taking kids camping, have them eat a “jungle breakfast.” Use serving sized boxes of cereal, pieces of fruit and juice boxes and tie them to trees near your campsite.

Dryer lint makes surprisingly good kindling for starting campfires. Start collecting the lint about a month prior to your trip from the filter in your dryer. Collecting lint in a bag will allow you to have a fire building tool for your trip. Using this method, you can acquire kindling and camp in the same day.

If you are going camping, whether with others or alone, a survival kit is essential. Depending on the location, the kit may have extra items, but the basic items should be there. Items that will help with possible snake bites or a sling in case of sprains or breaks is a good idea, too.

Oranges are good things to bring for your camping trip, and not only as a healthy snack option. Save all the orange peels. Before mosquitoes attack, rub them on exposed skin.

TIP! Oranges are not only a healthy snack to take on a camping trip, but they are also versatile when used as a mosquito repellent. Don’t throw away the peels when you are finished with them and rub them on yourself.
